Waking the Dead 2.0 || July 5-11, 2063 || The Wait

[Beautiful as Seigi is and generous as your hosts have been, it is hard to forget why you're here again.

Zangyaku is carrying on as per usual, as if your presence doesn't mean anything. It isn't a dismissal, though: it's an acknowledgment of the work that you must do, and that they are, by merit of your presence, helping you do it.]


General OOC Notes:
+ This is a catch-all post for any interactions that take place during the in-game period I indicated. Make sure to label your subject lines accordingly!
+ You're all staying at close to the Wolf's Ward, which is the wing devoted to the Blade King and the Wolfborn.
+ You're free to move around until about 7 PM. You have free run of the base.
+ You can, regardless of whether you have a license with Zangyaku or not, join in on minor routine engagements like patrol, or helping out at any of the divisions.
+ There is a free teleport back to Falner. You can go any time, as long as you're back before call time for the vigil with Ginko Takasugi-Vice from 8 PM until 4 AM.

General behavior of significant NPCs in the area:
+ Kasumi is your host, and effectively the officer in command for this leg of the operation.
+ Hikaru is generally NOT around during the day. He only turns up around dinner time to eat with everyone, take a temperature check on his end, and then immerse himself in his own work.
+ NPCs that have been fielded out to watch over David Young and Minato Arisato are available on call.
+ Other NPCs may be available on request. Just ping me?

[It's a little surprising and touching to hear Brigade sound that way. He rarely ever does, and there were honestly times when she wondered if she was intruding far too much into his space by simply asking him to be a part of the family.]

I'm all right. Tired because debriefing can be a bit of a bitch, but I think I'm faring better on the mental and emotional level than the rest of them right now.

[ There's a lot he wants to say. A lot more he wants to ask. He stops himself. J had her first time on the field. She's probably a lot more rattled than he is.

He wants to ask about the others but feels the need to ask about her first. ]

"All right" as in you're a-okay or "All right" as in I don't have to worry too much since it's only a flesh wound?

[ He's genuinely worried. He's worried she may be doing a "Brigade" and just saying she's fine and hiding any injuries. ]

[leitman]

"All right" as in a-okay. Honestly, I'm just tired and more worried about the rest.

[Saying that firmly, and her customary warmth. This might be her first field engagement, but somehow? On some levels? It felt a lot safer than some of the scrapes that she's gotten into in America.]

[ Brigs lets out a sigh of relief. She sounds okay. ]

Who's taking it badly? How're Cindy, Jill and Taning's woman?

Cindy and Jill are both fine - they're just frustrated. Sabina, I think, is walking off her rage.

[Which doesn't bother Jessica at all. She and Sabina have gotten to have some really good conversations. She feels that she understands the woman.]

[ He nods his head, as if she could see him over the other line ]

This was Cindy and Jill's first major op?

[ He remembers his first op back in WWII that went south. It wasn't a good feeling. He'd been angry at himself. ]

Sabina sounds like a rage-ier Taning.

[ He's never really seen Taning "angry" angry. It's usually been a sullen cloud over his head. And a super lightning bolt to a giant Amrita. ]

Actually, this is the first time that I've seen her this angry. During the actual op, though, she was very calm.

[Almost too calm.]

As for Cindy and Jill... this is Cindy's first major engagement. Jill has been on others in the past.

I like Sabina already. Can't wait to meet her. [ There's a laugh. He appreciates a person who knows where to throw her anger ]

Watch out for the little one. [ There is much concern in Brig's voice ] I remember Brianna's first major engagement as well. [ Oh, Korea ] She just needs someone with her.

[leitman]

[Noting that, of course.]

Try not to worry too much about her. She's done the patrol rounds, and a few small cases both in the States and in the Philippines. As things stand, she handled herself very well.

[atlas_shrugged]

You know I'm a worrier. [ His voice says that softly ] But if she's anything like her brother, she'll do just fine.

[leitman]

She will.

[Firmly, because the rest of the Pride is looking out for her as well.]

Anyway, we're going to get together in a bit and talk strategy.

Go. Just call me again after, if you want to. I hope you're feeling better now at least.

[ She's always been a big girl. Will always be one of his little girls though. And now she's on the field. ]

[Then, a little softer but with no less feeling:]

[ It's coming back really. How he calls her Princess. He misses her. And his tone gives it away. He's not hiding anything anyway. ]

[ He waits for her to put the call down. He's not going to be the one to. He can't. ]
