[It's a little after lunch with the Shinta Clan that Kasumi Aoi makes an interesting suggestion: that the War Hounds wile the afternoon hours away in good company with their mentors, former or otherwise, that can make it. Invitations are easy; she can handle them.

So, there you have it: doing things the Japanese way, talking over sake, nibbling idly on onigiri and whatever else. The rest of the household has left you alone. This is quality time with the people who have watched your back, and taught you whatever they could.]

[Let it be known that An'yu appears to be in his element whenever there is booze involved. Smiling as he's taking one of the largest bottles available to them and placing it between him and his student.]

Yes, we shall. [ Brigade gets the cups ready and pours alcohol for him and his Sensei. ] Who do you think we'll be drinking under the table and whose going to try to give us a run for our money? [ Although Brig knows that he's not getting drunk. Promethean condition, go figure. He's already expecting Tohru Fukuzawa to be among the last men standing, even after the Brands are sufficiently drunk (if they can even) ]

Fukuzawa and Mordechai, and the Brands deserve an honorable mention. The rest can hold their liquor, but not nearly as well as we can.

[Hands down. Tohru is crazy, but Alistair has been around for a WHILE.]

[ Brigade laughs to himself. Guess he would have lost that bet. ] I know Inquisitor Mordechai has been around a really long time, sir, being one of the oldest Rivers hunters [ He's heard stories. He hadn't yet accessed the dossiers at this point. Might not even have been up ] but Brother Fukuzawa, sir, how old is he? [ Brigade's not quite sure whether to bet if he's older than Tohru or it's the other way around, what with Tohru being Hikaru's father in this lifetime ]

Come to think of it, I've never asked him. All I know is that he had already been with the Searing Wind for a while before I even knew about the World of Darkness.

[ That's at least 50 years already at minimum calculation. If Tohru were already around before Wolf's choice, that would make him even older than all of them. Mages. he thinks to himself ] Whew, the time I've wasted not knowing you guys. [ He wonders, had he joined the Pax Deorum Conspiracies earlier in his life, what would he be now ]

[ Brigade nods and raises his glass to his Sensei before drinking again ] And I'm glad I'm here, sir. [ He really is ]

One more day in Japan for you and I, and then it's back to the grind. My wife has already been asking me when I plan on going back to work.

[ Brigade keeps his eyes in check. He's not about to glance Kasumi's way. ] I will miss Seigi, sir. I should find my way back here in the future; there's just so much more to learn, and it'd be a beautiful and enlightening place to take my next steps in training.

[ He pauses and takes a long drink of sake ] We got her by a free port, sir. I'm guessing we don't always have access to that. What would be the fastest way to visit Seigi and then get back to the Philippines?

Actually, since you're a Sworn Wolfheart now, all you have to do is ask me or Kalika. Kibo has a port that drops folks off directly in front of Seigi.

[ Brigade keeps his composure. But inside, there's one strong beat of excitement and relief ] I didn't know that, sir. [ He smiles and takes another drink from his cup ] But it is good to know. For the higher training in Zangyaku, we're required to train here in Japan, right, sir?

That will depend on Magistrate Shinta.

[An'yu is just Kalika's second, yo.]

Generally, though, unless you're summoned to Seigi, there isn't much of a reason for one to come here.

[ Something in Brigade's chest sinks at that. But as with all pitfalls, it's second nature to him to just see them as yet another hurdle to climb ] If she thinks an operative is ready to take the next step, sir? Or if she thinks an operative doesn't need to go to Seigi to improve?

[ He wants to come back. For a lot of reasons. ]

It doesn't usually have anything to do with training. Each power base is more than capable of handling its operatives these days.

[Lifts an eyebrow in Brig's direction.]

You're awfully interested in the thought of being able to go here regularly.

[ Brig can't lie for shit but he tries when he needs to. But he can't and won't lie at all to An'yu Oyama who has been nothing but kind to him. He lets out a sigh. ]

I've found I enjoy my nights here in Seigi, sir. [ He's telling the truth. ]

I WILL TRY BUT AN'YU CAN BE DENSE.

Oh, that's good.

[Blinking a little, though. What does he mean by that? The only thing An'yu can think of is that Japan's weather is much cooler than the Philippines. It's a real consideration for outdoorsmen and wanderers like himself.]

[ Brigade laughs, having expected his "One of the Meddlers" Sensei to ask further. He elaborates anyway. ]

I've found a little spot, here in Seigi, Sensei, where I spend my nights watching the stars. [ He smiles inside. Thinks of Kasumi. ] They're not quite as bright back home as they are here. And there's a really nice breeze that makes its way there.

I'd just like to go back to that spot whenever I can, and if given permission by Magistrate Shinta. [ The nights have been pleasant. The stars are always nice and the breeze is always soothing ] I haven't really felt comfortable to just sit somewhere in a long time. [ He thinks of the sake. ] I'm surprised I found somewhere that makes me feel like I don't have to be running and fighting all the time.

Perhaps I should show you more of my own spots back in the Philippines then. Maybe they can compare.

[ Brig smiles at that. He thinks of the cliff edge where they drink. It'd be good to clear his head. Take his Senseis advice and make time to just sit and talk for a change. He doubts though that he'll find a spot right now that compares with that spot at Kasumi's patio ] I would like that, sir. Maybe there are others. [ It's said with a sigh ]

[He's noticing something, but he can't quite put a finger on it just yet.

This is why his wife calls him an idiot sometimes.

I am sure that there will be other opportunities to come back here, Brig.

[ Brig smiles ] I don't doubt that, sir. It's just that part of me hopes I don't get to come back here purely for work or mission purposes only. [ The options seeming to slowly slip away, Brigade's eyes glance toward Kasumi's direction, but never settle on her, keeping her only in his peripheral for a moment, before going back to his Sensei ]

I will miss this place and the people I've come to meet. [ His mind, as usual, is still racing for solutions for the problem at hand. He's just trained that way. There's always the train, I guess. ]

With the way that you stay close to the Blade King, I doubt that it will be so hard for you to come around.
