Waking the Dead 2.0 || May 18, 2063 || The Mandatory Hot Springs Episode

[The skies are clear, the air is cool, and overall? Conditions are perfect for spending the entire afternoon and maybe even the entire night at the hot springs within Seigi. It's open to Zangyaku operatives and their families, along with any of their guests.

Oh, they're also communal. Surely no one minds? It's just skin, after all.

You're allowed to smoke, drink and eat while you're chilling out in the pools. You can also play cards, have a round (or several) of ping pong, flop around... anything goes, as long as you don't kill anybody!]

+ Make your own threads, plot out your own shenanigans and whatever else. Just remember: War Hounds and the rest were probably invited there after lunch, and are more than welcome to spend the rest of the day there. Y'all might want to specify the time. :3

Yep! [ She's enjoying the drink herself, and she really looks like she's having a pleasant day. ]

It's nice to relax for a bit. No homework to rush, no books to finish reading by whenever, no life-threatening missions. Just good, clean fun.

I think I know what you mean. It was like that for me when I was just starting out... it's kind of funny how the higher you go, the more you actually end up with free time on your hands.

[ She's looking off, quite preoccupied. ]

I mean, it's not that I'm not enjoying myself or anything. I'm having a lot of fun, just, well, stronger is better. Sort of.

[ Kind of fumbled towards the end, because she doesn't want Selene to think that she's only in it to become stronger. ]

That's good. Personally, I think that there is a lot that you can do for us.

[ A sigh bleeds into her words. It's not that she's worried, but a couple of scenarios of her being an awesome kick-ass Changeling pop into her head. She instantly gets lost in them. ]

Oops, sorry, don't mind me. Don't mean to bother you or anything. [ She smiles at Selene apologetically. ]

[Chuckles.]

You're not bothering me at all. Besides, you got me a drink.

Oh yeah, just don't want to get in the way of your beautiful playing, really.

[ She gestures to the koto. ]

What you're doing with that is really interesting though. Don't think I've ever seen that happen.

[She means it. No false modesty with this one. Besides, she's a hard working.]

I'm trying to make sure that I know how to play every stringed instrument around. The harp is still my favorite so far, though.

So... What kind of Changeling things do you do? I'm just curious, that's all.

I'm a Nightsinger. That means that I have purview over shadows and other creepy things.

[Chuckles.]

Honestly, I prefer to use my Minstrel abilities instead.

That could be really nifty. It's a really nice notion, controlling music and all. I mean everyone listens to music, imagine what you could do with that. For good, I mean.

[ She's genuinely interested. ]

And for not so good things, honestly. This level of control over music, rhythm and sound can also be pretty frightening.

[A small laugh, and a rueful smile.]

The First Harper was a Changeling. I suppose it makes sense.

Wait, the first Minstrel was a Changeling? [ Terribly confused, this one. ]

Mm-hm. What we know about his life borders more on fantastic myth than anything else, but we know that much.

[Plucking at the koto again.]

Because of him, both human beings and Changeling can gain his Gift.

I love stories like that.

[ She quiets down now, content to listening to Selene play while enjoying her drink. ]

[And then she's smiling at her companion one last time before launching into her next song.

Admittedly, it's nice to have somebody sitting close and watching her.]
