Waking the Dead 2.0 || May 18, 2063 || The Mandatory Hot Springs Episode

[The skies are clear, the air is cool, and overall? Conditions are perfect for spending the entire afternoon and maybe even the entire night at the hot springs within Seigi. It's open to Zangyaku operatives and their families, along with any of their guests.

Oh, they're also communal. Surely no one minds? It's just skin, after all.

You're allowed to smoke, drink and eat while you're chilling out in the pools. You can also play cards, have a round (or several) of ping pong, flop around... anything goes, as long as you don't kill anybody!]

+ Make your own threads, plot out your own shenanigans and whatever else. Just remember: War Hounds and the rest were probably invited there after lunch, and are more than welcome to spend the rest of the day there. Y'all might want to specify the time. :3

[Sometime after sunset, the strains of a koto can be heard permeating through the area. The songs are not traditional, though.

Whodathunk that you could make a koto version of familiar EDM tunes? Then again, this is Selene Vega. She can make anything happen as long as it's got something to do with music.

She's sitting out in the open air, right by the patio of the one of the houses that overlooks the pools. She's perfectly content with being on her own, but is sure to welcome the company or admiring listeners.]

[ Brigade hears the music and his curiosity is immediately piqued. Here is a woman he only knows as Selene Vega, but he has not yet had time to read the files on her. He takes it as an opportunity to not be Netsach for a change. The "research" on individuals has become a thing, ever since he joined the organization. He misses the adventure of meeting someone without knowing anything about them; like how you would on a normal day. ]

[ He's still deciding if he should take a dip again. He decides he'd like to speak with this one first. ]

Uhm, good evening, Ma'am. [ He approaches respectfully ] I heard your music and couldn't help but want to get to know the one playing EDM on a koto. I'm Brigade, Ma'am.

Hello. I've heard a lot about you from my sister.

[Smiling, even as her fingers continue plucking out another tune.]

It's nice to meet you properly.

[ Brigade laughs at that. He may not know her but as usual, word about him always reaches other people's ears before he does ] It's nice to make your acquaintance too, Ma'am.

Inquisitor Tala Vega spoke of me? [ He's never really had the chance to speak with her again since his first day, he believes ] I hope it wasn't anything bad. [ He chuckles. He's half expecting his fight with Hikaru in Korea to still haunt him here like with every other person he's met ]

It wasn't, unless you're worried about her commentary on your fashion sense.

[Chuckles. Sigh, her sister...]

[ Brigade laughs at that ] Well, I have no defense for that. It's military or plain for me.

[ He sits down beside her and appreciates her skill and music ] I hope you don't mind if I sit here and listen. Are you a minstrel like Inquisitor Gideon?

Feel free. And I am, actually. We both possess Grand Songs, and trained under the same master. The only real difference between us is the fact that he is human, and I'm really not now.

[Cool and casual. It stopped bothering her a long time ago.]

[ Brigade recalls what he's read of Minstrels in general ] You're a changeling, Ma'am? [ Brigade glances a way to look for and find his Blademate. ] Have you met my Blademate? Your sister's "besty"? [ He looks at the girl with fondness. Like a little sister of his own. ]

[Noticing that, of course. But saying nothing. She has a crowd to entertain.]

I have, actually. Hikaru had both Tala and I go into Arcadia in order to save her.

I would very much like to see Brianna come to closure with her demons. [ He sighs. ] And hopefully then I'll be more than just a 122-year-old Hunter so I can give her whatever support she needs as well.

That is something that the both of us would like for her.

[Smiling up at Brig just so before returning her attentions to her koto.]

Tala and I will make sure to keep your blade posted on any important Arcadian matters that relate to Brianna.

[ Brianna sits down nearby. She's holding two glasses of rum cola. She carefully places one near Selene and smiles at her. ]

Just in case you want to take a drink break. You're really good, btdubs.

Oh, thanks!

[You're such a sweet girl, Brianna. Smiling up at you now, as she's finishing her latest song. Time to have that drink.]

Yep! [ She's enjoying the drink herself, and she really looks like she's having a pleasant day. ]

It's nice to relax for a bit. No homework to rush, no books to finish reading by whenever, no life-threatening missions. Just good, clean fun.

[Chuckles.]

I think I know what you mean. It was like that for me when I was just starting out... it's kind of funny how the higher you go, the more you actually end up with free time on your hands.

[ She's looking off, quite preoccupied. ]

Cool! I can't wait til that day comes. [ Pleased smile. ]

I mean, it's not that I'm not enjoying myself or anything. I'm having a lot of fun, just, well, stronger is better. Sort of.

[ Kind of fumbled towards the end, because she doesn't want Selene to think that she's only in it to become stronger. ]

Y'know, so I can help out more.

[Listening patiently, of course, smiling, nodding along.]

That's good. Personally, I think that there is a lot that you can do for us.

Yeaaaahhh... I really hope so...

[ A sigh bleeds into her words. It's not that she's worried, but a couple of scenarios of her being an awesome kick-ass Changeling pop into her head. She instantly gets lost in them. ]

Oops, sorry, don't mind me. Don't mean to bother you or anything. [ She smiles at Selene apologetically. ]

[Chuckles.]

You're not bothering me at all. Besides, you got me a drink.

Oh yeah, just don't want to get in the way of your beautiful playing, really.

[ She gestures to the koto. ]

What you're doing with that is really interesting though. Don't think I've ever seen that happen.

Thanks. I do try my best.

[She means it. No false modesty with this one. Besides, she's a hard working.]

I'm trying to make sure that I know how to play every stringed instrument around. The harp is still my favorite so far, though.

[ Josh is wandering around when the sound of a familiar tune catches on his ears. He recognizes the progresion of notes but is unable to place why it sounds so different. Eventually though, he peeks around the corner to find Selene Vega, and his brows lift at the sight of her playing the koto.

He's keeping out of sight, not wanting to disturb her. ]

[And focused as she is, Selene doesn't notice that she has an audience at close proximity again. She's smiling a little to herself, sometimes closing her eyes as if sight actually does her sense of rhythm and sound a disservice, and ends up getting in the way of feeling everything through.

The koto may not be her primary instrument, but that wouldn't be obvious to people who did not know her. She seems to play it so naturally.]

[ It's a pretty amazing thing to hear: Calvin Harris' "Bounce" transposed to the Japanese instrument.

Leaning Sideways against the wall, arms crossed, he shuts his eyes and starts nodding along to the rhythm. ]

[And because she can tell that he's enjoying himself and perfectly content with just listening for a moment, she's only turning to look at him with a smile (just once, and it doesn't matter to her that he might not be able to see it), then going back to her music.
